Shalva Papuashvili: We have a domestic terrorist group that gets emotionally agitated at night; we see their movement in the streets—in the morning, thank God, they are calm, but we must be cautious at night because they experience exacerbations

There is a domestic terrorist group whose declared goal is to change the government through violent means—this is how Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili assessed the idea of a “peaceful overthrow of the government” announced for October 4, election day.
As Papuashvili stated, “we must avoid these people at night because they experience emotional agitation and exacerbations at night.”
“We see that they have zero support. This is a marginalized group of people who have nothing but hysteria, malice, violence, and insults to offer. What President Trump calls ‘domestic terrorism,’ we have such a domestic terrorist group of people who get emotionally agitated at night; we see their movement in the streets. In the morning, thank God, they are calm, and the country can live peacefully, but we must be cautious at night because they experience exacerbations. This is a domestic terrorist group whose declared goal is to change the government through violent means. They have stated that they reject the democratic path. A large part of them has formally withdrawn from the elections and is not participating, while another part is formally participating, but this is also part of their plan. Their result is zero, of course; they have no hope of public support. However, these nighttime exacerbations we see—these are people carrying the ideology of Charlie Kirk’s killer. We saw their reactions to that murder, how they mocked it, how they were pleased. This is the same terrorist ideology that is causing problems in the U.S. today. So, nothing can be ruled out from these domestic terrorists. Therefore, society must remain vigilant,” Papuashvili stated.
According to the Parliament Speaker, the government is “closely monitoring the contacts of foreigners with these radicals.”
In his assessment, for example, “the EU Ambassador is hiding and not responding to the questions that exist in society.”
“Every ambassador, every foreigner who shakes hands with them at the embassy, invites them to their home for dinner or otherwise, is normalizing radicals and extremists. They will be complicit if any violent act occurs from this domestic terrorist group. Once again, I want to address the foreigners who are in Georgia, whether on diplomatic or non-diplomatic missions—this time, they will not escape responsibility. We remember the violent attacks on the police by NGOs funded by them last December, setting fires, and so on. To this day, there is silence; not one of them has condemned this violence. EU money was spent on funding these domestic terrorists, and to this day, the EU Ambassador hasn’t deemed us worthy of a single statement. The Georgian people are concerned and wondering how EU money was spent. The EU Ambassador is hiding in their embassy and not answering the questions society has,” Papuashvili stated.
He called on foreigners to act responsibly regarding their funds, as well as their communications and meetings.
“I personally will not tolerate the ‘normalization’ of meetings with terrorists, radicals, and extremists, and each time, this will be exposed,” Papuashvili stated.
