**Georgian Parliament Speaker Speaks Out Against European Parliament Resolution**
The Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, has expressed his frustration and disappointment with a recent resolution passed by the European Parliament. In an interview with journalists, Papuashvili stated that some individuals in the European Parliament have developed an organic intolerance towards the Georgian people.
According to Papuashvili, this intolerance is rooted in personal biases and historical animosities. He specifically mentioned Rasa Juknevičienė, a member of the European Parliament, as someone who has a long-standing dislike for the Georgian nation due to her views on Stalin. Papuashvili emphasized that it’s impossible to reason or explain anything to someone with such deep-seated prejudices.
**Fighting Back Against Anti-Georgian Groups**
The Speaker of the Parliament announced that his team will now focus on reaching out to EU citizens and educating them about the misuse of funds in Brussels. He highlighted how some institutions in Brussels are using taxpayer money to spread propaganda, promote violence, hatred, and contempt towards Georgian society.
Papuashvili’s message is clear: it’s time for EU citizens to demand accountability from their representatives and institutions. “We will do everything we can to explain this to the EU citizens,” he said, “so that they can then come to their institutions and demand an answer for the harm that we sometimes see.”
**A Call for Common Sense and International Law**
Papuashvili expressed his hope that alternative views in the European Parliament would gain strength. He emphasized the importance of common sense, elementary understanding, and adherence to international law. In contrast, he decried the anti-Georgian groups that are using Georgia as a pawn to overcome their own fears.
**The EU We Want**
The Speaker of the Parliament concluded by stating that the European Union should stand for something more positive: common sense, basic principles, and international law. He appealed to EU citizens to take an active role in demanding answers from their representatives about how funds are being used. This is the kind of EU we look forward to, Papuashvili said, not those anti-Georgian groups that are fighting Georgia.
