In accordance with the conclusion of the Parliamentary Investigative Commission, we are working on a constitutional lawsuit regarding the recognition of extremist parties as unconstitutional – we cannot oppose extremism with sweet words! Democracy must protect itself from anti-democrats and enemies of democracy! – this statement was made by the Chairman of the Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili.
As Papuashvili noted in this context, it is necessary to use the legislative instruments with which extremism is fought in all countries.
“I would like to remind you that an extremist organization was recently abolished in Germany. Parties are being abolished in various countries – one party was recently abolished in Moldova. This is what a self-reliant democracy is. Democracy must defend itself from anti-democrats and enemies of democracy.
Extremists have no choice but to give a legal response within the framework of a self-reliant democracy.

For them, the Georgian people have a chance “Let them show us whether we are dealing with the Europe of the 21st century or the Europe of 100 years ago. Let them show us that democracy is a value, not just words,” said Shalva Papuashvili.
