These days, as we observe, the “National Movement” and its branches are piling up arguments upon arguments for the constitutional lawsuit—they have only worsened their situation and added evidence to an already strong case, stated the Speaker of the Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, regarding the constitutional lawsuit concerning the banning of parties.
According to Papuashvili, the lawsuit will be submitted to the court in the near future.
“Regarding the banning of parties, the lawsuit will be submitted. The lawsuit is almost prepared. However, it needs some additions. These days, what we are observing is that the ‘National Movement’ and its branches are piling up arguments upon arguments for the constitutional lawsuit. What you saw yesterday, and what you saw before that, all of this is direct evidence for our lawsuit to approach the Constitutional Court to have these groups declared unconstitutional as extremist groups—not only during their time in power but also now, in opposition. These days, as we observe, they have only worsened their situation and added evidence to an already strong case.
As for the timing, the lawsuit will be submitted in the near future; the lawsuit is practically ready. However, based on recent events, among other things, issues will, of course, be reflected in this lawsuit as additional evidence. Regarding the scope, considering the recent events and in general, we will once again reflect on which political organizations are involved in extremist and anti-constitutional activities,” Papuashvili stated.
