 The EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting held in Luxembourg was yet another missed opportunity for EU commissioners and ministers to condemn the violent storming of the Georgian President’s Palace on October 4, wrote Shalva Papuashvili, the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, on social media.
As Papuashvili notes, Brussels should “renounce the encouragement of violence as a tool for achieving political goals.”
“Yesterday, the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting in Luxembourg was yet another missed opportunity for EU commissioners and ministers to condemn the violent storming of the Georgian President’s Palace on October 4. Instead, we once again heard attacks on the Georgian people through false narratives.
Covering for perpetrators is justifying violence, and justifying violence encourages further violence.
Brussels must return to fundamental European values and renounce the encouragement of violence as a tool for achieving political goals,” Papuashvili writes.
