The spokesperson is very fond of comparisons, hints to Russian textbooks, services, etc. – it is absolutely poor propaganda that she is engaged in. If she is engaged in propaganda, it is understandable, but propaganda should also have its own style – every time she starts juggling Russian epithets towards the Georgian people and their elected government, she will receive a fairly clear response from us, – this is how the Speaker of the Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, assesses the statement of the European Commission Spokesperson for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Anitta Hipper, that the actions of the Georgian Dream are “clearly inspired by the Russian propaganda textbook.”
According to him, Anitta Hiper is attacking the Georgian people and their elected government.
“The spokesperson is very fond of the comparison, references to the Russian textbook, services, etc. – this is absolutely poor propaganda. If she is doing propaganda, it is understandable, but propaganda should also have its own style. Absolutely poor propaganda addressed to the Georgian people, using some ethnic epithets. Of course, this is unacceptable. I wrote yesterday and I want to say today that every time she appears and starts juggling Russian epithets towards the Georgian people and their elected government, she will receive a fairly clear response from us, because it is impossible for the Georgian people to tolerate such approaches when they are absolutely ignored. A bureaucrat who has just started her career, presumably there, comes out and attacks the Georgian people and their elected government,” Papuashvili stated.
According to Shalva Papuashvili, “This is the person who, on September 23, supported the gathering announced for October 4 with the aim of overthrowing the government.”
“After that, for 10 days, I have been calling on them to explain, to distance themselves from the overthrow rally, but there was zero response. October 4 came, the overthrow began to fail, and now they do not want to share responsibility. Before that, I said that if there had been violence there, the European Commission would have shared responsibility for this violence precisely because of this statement by the spokesperson.
We see that after the failed overthrow of October 4, the spokesperson made two comments and both times attacked the Georgian government, instead of condemning the actions of the perpetrators and the storming of the presidential palace. This is a poor attempt for this person to escape responsibility for what she did, namely, to encourage and provide external support for the overthrow rally planned for October 4. The statement is an example of a verbal attack on the Georgian people and their government, and this must end. It is unthinkable that we are hearing an attack from a bureaucrat, who was not elected by anyone and is appointed by her own leader, on the elected government of the Georgian people. It is completely unnecessary to talk about some European standards here. It is simply unacceptable when an unelected bureaucrat attacks the democratically elected government of another country,” Papuashvili said.
The European Commission’s spokesperson for foreign affairs and security, Anitta Hipper, stated that the actions of the Georgian Dream are clearly inspired by the Russian propaganda textbook. According to Hipper, the verbal attacks from the Georgian Dream are “desperate attempts to mask a repressive regime.”
