“The only interesting aspect that may accompany the work of Gakharia’s party members in parliament is that we can directly see what instructions are coming from abroad. This is a party that is formally managed from abroad by Giorgi Gakharia, who is outside, in Germany, and, like Lenin from Germany, is trying to organize revolutions here,” Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili told journalists.
According to him, the members of the “Gakharia – For Georgia” party had to justify their initial decision not to enter parliament and now their decision to enter it.
“Today, Rusudan Tevzadze from Gakharia’s party announced that she is giving up her parliamentary mandate. On October 4, she ran in the local government elections as a majoritarian candidate in one of Tbilisi’s districts, where there are 67,000 voters. She received 369 votes. You can judge from this how significant her presence or absence is for the Georgian parliament. Also, these people talk about legitimacy—those who received 369 votes out of 67,000. I understand it’s a difficult situation. It was the same in the previous parliament. You remember Nika Melia’s statement, ‘Whoever enters will be a puff,’ and in the end, they came in as puffs. They hadn’t decided to actively work in parliament either. They didn’t give up their mandates but didn’t physically set foot in parliament either. Now they have to acknowledge the parliamentary elections, and they’re in a difficult position, trying to find some justification, but they’re putting themselves in an even more ridiculous situation. We see, based on external instructions, the processes we had last October when the defeated radical opposition, along with defeated ambassadors and foreign politicians, didn’t want to acknowledge their defeat. They started working on a ‘Plan B’ to forcibly remove the national and legitimate government and hand power to their own puppets. That plan failed, and it ultimately collapsed on October 4, when we witnessed the failure to overthrow the government. Let me also recall Rasa Juknevičienė, who was cheering for the government’s overthrow from abroad, posting one post after another at the moment when there was an intrusion into the President’s Palace. She was cheering from there. Accordingly, now they have to somehow justify their shameful behavior to their own voters—for not working in parliament for a year and for now entering the Georgian parliament.
In this regard, the only interesting aspect that may accompany their work in parliament is that we can directly see what instructions are coming from abroad, in the literal sense of the word. In fact, it is a party that is formally managed from abroad by Giorgi Gakharia, who is outside, in Germany, and, like Lenin from Germany, is trying to organize revolutions here,” Papuashvili stated.
For reference, the “Gakharia – For Georgia” party ended its boycott of the October 26, 2024, parliamentary elections and decided to enter the 11th convocation of the parliament with its 12 members.
