“We do not grant legitimacy to this Parliament, but that does not mean we won’t do our work or serve the country and its people – I will be a member of Parliament, yes, for some an illegitimate Parliament member, for others a legitimate one,” said Shalva Kereselidze, a deputy from the “Gakharia – For Georgia” party, following a meeting with Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili.Kereselidze stated that he met with the Parliament Speaker to discuss technical matters.
He also noted that political processes have practically stalled, and his team will actively participate in these stalled processes in the interest of the people and the country.
“As you know, we made a decision regarding entering Parliament. Next week is a session week, and we came here regarding technical matters. It is unfortunate that we will be the only ones from the opposition in this Parliament. It no longer matters whether the Parliament is legitimate or not. The fact is clear – the government is run by ‘Georgian Dream,’ they pass laws, make decisions in Parliament, in the government, and in the judiciary. We do not grant legitimacy to this Parliament, but that does not mean we won’t do our work or serve the country and its people. We made this decision precisely for this reason. It was not made for personal or party interests. This was a very tough decision, and we were prepared for it only for the sake of the people and the country’s interests,” Kereselidze stated.
