**Chaos in Serbian Parliament**
A session of the Serbian Parliament turned chaotic on Tuesday. The meeting began at 10 am, but things got out of hand about an hour later.
**Smoke bombs and flares were used to disrupt the proceedings**
Just after 11 am, smoke bombs were set off and flares lit inside the Parliament chamber. This caused a big disturbance. Opposition MPs held up banners with messages like “Serbia is Rising to Bring Down the Regime” and “We Stand with Educators”.
**Government and opposition in conflict**
The government responded by calling the opposition “Ustasha”, a name that carries a negative connotation. The Parliament Speaker, Ana Brnabic, accused the opposition of supporting the Prime Minister of Albania, Albin Kurti.
**Two MPs injured**
In the chaos, two government MPs were hurt. A pregnant woman also felt unwell.
**Many agenda items on the table**
The session had 62 points on its agenda, including proposed changes to the Law on Higher Education and a draft law on housing loans for young people.
**Opposition wants government to resign**
The opposition Green-Left Front suggested that only two items be discussed: the Law on Higher Education and the resignation of the government. However, this proposal was rejected.
**Police presence in Parliament**
There is a visible police presence inside the Parliament building.
**Students and citizens protest outside**
Outside the parliament building, students and citizens gathered to show their support for the opposition. They held a moment of silence for the victims of the Novi Sad tragedy.
