Serbian Pensioners Stand with Students in Protest
A group of pensioners gathered in Belgrade’s central square to show their support for students who are protesting against the government.
The pensioners, led by the military pensioners’ association, came out to demonstrate solidarity with the students. One of them, Mirjana Vukotic, said: “We are here to support the students in their fight for justice and an orderly state.”
Pensioners March with Students
The pensioners joined the students at Students’ Square and marched together to the Ministry of Education. They were protesting against the government’s treatment of educators, who face threats of salary cuts or dismissal if they support student protests.
One banner read: “I don’t care about the pension, but I won’t give up on justice. Long live the students, baby boomers are with you.”
The pensioners’ message was clear: they stand with the students in their fight for justice and against intimidation by the government.
