**Senator Mark Kelly Gets Rid of His Tesla**
U.S. Senator Mark Kelly has decided to get rid of his Tesla Model S after billionaire Elon Musk called him a “traitor”. Kelly, a Democrat from Arizona, made the announcement in a video posted on social media platform X.
Kelly bought the Tesla car thinking it would be just a fast ride. But after Musk’s comment, he started to feel uncomfortable driving it. Every time he got in the car, he was reminded of how much damage Musk and former President Donald Trump are doing to the country.
Musk had called Kelly a “traitor” on X for visiting Ukraine just days after the U.S. paused military aid to Kyiv. Kelly had also visited with officials, nurses, volunteers, and soldiers in Ukraine. He quickly replied to Musk’s comment, criticizing his stance.
Kelly said that defending freedom is a basic tenet of what makes America great and keeps it safe. He told Musk to leave it to those who do understand this.
Along with the video, Kelly also wrote on X that he was ditching his Tesla. He said every time he drove it, he felt like a rolling billboard for someone dismantling the government and hurting people. So, he decided to get rid of it.
The exchange between Musk and Kelly came amid heightened tensions between the Trump administration and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The U.S. has temporarily paused military aid and intelligence sharing with Ukraine while making little demands on Russia and President Vladimir Putin.
