The fifth president of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, has shown her support for activist Mzia Amaglobeli. On social media platform X, the president wrote: “Mzia Amaglobeli, you are not alone in this historic struggle for Georgia’s freedom.”
**Activist Faces Detention**
The Batumi City Court has put Mzia Amaglobeli in pre-trial detention as a precautionary measure. This decision was made by Judge Nino Sakhelashvili.
**Charges and Arrests**
Mzia Amaglobeli faces charges under Article 353^1 of the Criminal Code, which relates to assaulting a police officer. She was initially arrested during a protest near the Batumi Police Main Department, but was released after two hours. However, she was detained again shortly afterwards.
