**Georgia in Crisis: President Speaks Out Against Repression**
The fifth President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, has spoken out against the current government’s treatment of its citizens. In a speech at the Lithuanian Seimas, she criticized the government for using the judicial system and police to silence peaceful protesters.
**Free Speech Under Attack**
Zurabishvili spoke about the case of Mzia Amaglobeli, a respected journalist who was arrested for doing her job. She covered protests and was charged with “gang violence” – a charge that many see as unjust. The President also mentioned the case of an actor who is currently on trial.
**Fear of Tyranny**
The President warned that believing in democracy has become enough to get you put behind bars. Journalists are being publicly accused of anti-state activities for expressing their opinions, and these cases will be investigated by the Prosecutor General.
