Georgia’s fifth president, Salome Zurabishvili, says she disagrees with opposition parties that have decided to participate in the October 4 local elections.
Zurabishvili said that October 4 is not an election, but a simulation of an election, which was a controversial topic.
“I thought that elections in general, and I have said this to all political parties, should not have been our topic, and there should not have been division of the opposition over it. I do not agree with those who are taking part in these elections. I do not think that a boycott was necessary, these elections do not exist, this is nothing. This is a simulation of elections. For some reason, opposition parties entered this topic. Unity is the most important thing, standing together, this is what will strengthen America’s attention and support for us. What will strengthen the attention and support of the European Union for us. Let’s stand together,” Salome Zurabishvili said on TV Pirveli during a live broadcast from Washington.
Earlier, Salome Zurabishvili was asked by the host whether she would be at the rally planned for October 4, to which Zurabishvili said that she would be everywhere where there is unity, although she disagreed with certain words.
“I will be everywhere where everyone and unity are. I may not agree with some words, because we should not give this government any excuse to play its destabilizing scenarios,” she said.
