According to her, it is important to “quickly change this regime so as not to lose the historic chance of joining the European Union”.
“We see that the number of European countries that have decided to sanction the regime is growing. They have been joined by the Czech Republic, which has been a supporting state for our country for many years and actively supports Georgia’s accession to the European Union. They have also decided to impose sanctions on the regime’s representatives, holders of diplomatic passports, and not allow them to travel to the European Union. This should be a very clear message to Georgian citizens that until the regime that currently rules Georgia changes, we will only gradually lose all the frameworks of relations that we have with Europe,” Samadashvili noted.
In addition, she spoke about the fact that yesterday, European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, left for a three-day visit to Azerbaijan and Armenia. As Samadashvili notes, Georgia’s place as a strategic ally of the West in the region is being taken by its neighbors.
“Bidzina Ivanishvili, is turning Georgia into complete international isolation on the instructions of Russia. Our place as the West’s strategic allies in the region is being taken by our neighbors. Kos’ visit is the second high-level visit from Brussels, when they come to our neighbors, but not to Georgia. The previous one was Kaja Kallas’ visit.
All this means that the historic chance that our people had to become a member state of the European Union was taken away by Ivanishvili. It seems that our neighbors will deepen relations with the European Union, while Georgia may lose such an achievement as visa-free travel in the very near future,” Samadashvili noted.
