**Georgian Delegation’s Mandate Challenged at European Assembly**
It is a difficult day for Georgia. The country’s reputation is being questioned by other European nations. This happened for the first time ever in the history of Georgia.
The issue arose during a meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). A Swedish MP, Boriana Oberg, spoke out against the Georgian government. She said that Georgia has become a one-party state, with only one party in power: “Georgian Dream.”
MP Salome Samadashvili from “Strong Georgia” commented on this issue. She said that the current government is destroying democracy in Georgia. The opposition leaders met several times to discuss these issues.
**Cases of Political Prisoners Discussed**
During the meetings, the opposition leaders spoke about cases such as Mzia Amaglobeli’s imprisonment and her hunger strike, which is very dangerous for her health. They also talked about other political prisoners and how democracy in Georgia is disappearing.
**Next Steps**
The Monitoring and Procedural Committees will now discuss this issue. They must give their opinion within 24 hours. After that, the Assembly will vote on whether to recognize the Georgian delegation’s mandate. This decision will be made during a session from January 27 to 31.
