**Russian Attacks on Kharkiv Leave 17 Injured, Including Two Children**
In a devastating overnight attack, Russian missiles and drones hit the city of Kharkiv, injuring at least 17 people, including two children. According to regional Governor Oleh Syniehubov, the attacks targeted high-rise buildings in the Slobodsky district.
The injured include two 13-year-old girls, a pregnant woman, and a 93-year-old woman. Unfortunately, no information is available on the extent of their injuries. The full extent of the damage to residential buildings and civilian infrastructure is also not yet clear as rescue workers continue to work on-scene.
**A Pattern of Russian Aggression**
This attack is just the latest in a series of repeated large-scale aerial assaults by Russia against Ukraine. Just days ago, on June 1, Russia launched its largest swarm of attack drones since the start of the full-scale invasion, with over 472 units targeting Ukrainian airfields and other areas.
On June 2, Russian drone and missile attacks on Kharkiv injured six people, including a child. President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that Russia has launched approximately 48,600 aerial attacks since the start of 2025. The city of Kharkiv in northeastern Ukraine is a regular target of Russian aggression.
**A City Under Siege**
Kharkiv Oblast has been frequently targeted by Russian missile, drone, and glide bomb attacks. Densely populated neighborhoods in the city have been hit repeatedly, with residential buildings and civilian infrastructure bearing the brunt of the violence. This attack on June 5 is a stark reminder of the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Ukraine.
