**Russia Gets New Ambassador to US**
The Russian Foreign Ministry said on February 28 that the US has approved Russia’s new ambassador, Alexander Darchiev. He will soon move to Washington to take up his post.
Darchiev is a veteran diplomat with five years of experience in Washington. Before this, he was Russia’s ambassador to Canada from 2014 to 2021 and later became the director of the North American Department at the Russian Foreign Ministry.
**US and Russia Talk Diplomacy**
The US and Russia are having more talks after a meeting in Istanbul on February 27. The two countries had previously stopped talking because of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
A US State Department spokesperson said that the talks did not include discussions about Moscow’s war against Ukraine. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that the talks were about embassy operations.
**More Diplomacy Expected**
The approval of Darchiev as the new ambassador comes at a time when there is renewed diplomatic engagement between the two countries.
