**Russia Launches Largest Attack on Ukrainian Railway Hub, Leaving Two Dead and 13 Wounded**
A devastating Russian drone strike has left a trail of destruction in the town of Lozova, a key railway hub in eastern Ukraine. The attack, which took place on Tuesday evening, resulted in two people being killed and 13 others injured, including two children.
The strike involved 34 drones, according to Governor Oleh Syniehubov, who stated that the train station and a nearby rail depot were damaged. The attack also temporarily knocked out power to 80% of the town, which has a population of around 50,000 people in the Kharkiv region. This is a critical infrastructure hub connected by rail to several strategic cities in Ukraine’s east.
The scale of the attack has left residents shaken. “Critical infrastructure, apartment buildings and private homes have been damaged… Lozova has endured the largest attack since the beginning of the war,” wrote Serhiy Zelenskiy, head of the town council, on the Telegram messaging app.
**Eyewitness Accounts Describe Chaos**
Local resident Oksana Samoilenko, 41, described the situation as “very unusual.” She stated that some residents had left the town earlier in the morning following the strike. The stately Soviet-era building of the train station was heavily damaged, with rubble and debris littering the area.
One employee of state railway operator Ukrzaliznytsia was among the two people killed, while four others were wounded in the attack. Ukraine’s air force claimed to have downed 29 out of 46 drones launched by Russia across Ukraine overnight. However, there has been no immediate comment from Russia on the attacks.
**Both Sides Deny Targeting Civilians**
It is worth noting that both Russia and Ukraine deny targeting civilians in the ongoing war, which began with a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. The conflict continues to cause devastation across the country, with innocent lives lost and infrastructure destroyed.
