**Russian Drone Attack Hits Ukrainian Maternity Hospital, Leaving Patients in Shock**
A Russian drone strike on the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv has left a trail of destruction and terrorized patients at a maternity hospital. The attack, which occurred on Friday, damaged the medical facility and sent families rushing to shelter their newborns.
According to reports from Kharkiv’s regional prosecutors, three women and three newborns suffered acute stress as a result of the attack. Windows shattered and shards of glass fell onto beds, causing chaos and panic among patients and staff.
One woman, Oleksandra Lavrynenko, was at the hospital after giving birth just hours earlier. She described the moment when the drone struck, saying: “We woke up and heard a very loud whistle. My husband and I got up and quickly went to our little one, and at that moment there was a hit and the windows shattered.”
Lavrynenko and her newborn son, Maksym, were forced to take shelter underground as staff prepared to evacuate the hospital.
**The Human Toll**
The attack on the maternity hospital has left families in shock. Doctors and medical staff at the facility reported severe stress among patients and staff, with some women having given birth just days earlier and undergone surgery.
“It is very difficult and scary to give birth at this time,” Lavrynenko said, reflecting on her experience. “I am slowly recovering from the shock.”
**Russia’s Escalating Attacks**
The drone attack on Kharkiv is part of a broader escalation in Russian aerial attacks across Ukraine. Russia has increased the intensity of its missile and drone strikes in recent weeks, targeting Ukraine’s second-largest city.
As tensions continue to rise, Governor Oleh Syniehubov reported that nine people were injured in Kharkiv and an apartment building was damaged in the attack. One person died and at least five more were injured as a result of various Russian attacks over the past day in the surrounding region.

The ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine has left civilians caught in the crossfire. The attack on the maternity hospital serves as a stark reminder of the human cost of this war.
