Russian Forces Attack Ukraine with Missiles
Russia launched missiles at different parts of Ukraine on March 7. The targets included energy and gas infrastructure in various regions, said Ukrainian Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko.
Rescue workers and energy officials are working to fix the damage. However, details about the specific areas hit by the missiles were not immediately available.
The first series of missiles was launched around 4 a.m. local time. A second set entered Ukraine’s airspace at 6 a.m. Explosions were heard in the western city of Ternopil and the front-line city of Kharkiv.
Ukraine’s air defenses were active across the country during the missile threats. But there is no information yet on how much damage was done or if anyone was hurt.
Russia has been launching missiles at Ukraine for a while now, targeting critical infrastructure in particular. This happened even as the US paused its intelligence-sharing with Ukraine, making it harder to warn against Russian attacks.
