**Russian Man Arrested for Allegedly Transporting Drones to Ukraine**
A 55-year-old man from the Russian city of Chelyabinsk has been arrested on suspicion of transporting drones to Ukraine as part of a major operation. Mikhail Ryumin, who was taken into custody on June 2, is accused of committing a terrorist act and being involved in the Ukrainian military’s Operation Spiderweb.
**What Was Operation Spiderweb?**
Operation Spiderweb was a surprise drone attack carried out by Ukraine against four Russian air bases on June 1. The operation saw Ukrainian forces use drones hidden in trucks to target and damage 41 aircraft at Russian airfields deep inside the country. This unprecedented strike was praised by Western analysts and military officials for its ingenuity.
**Ryumin’s Involvement**
According to a colleague of Ryumin, who spoke on condition of anonymity, the driver had no idea that the truck he was transporting goods in contained drones. Ryumin allegedly accepted a delivery order to transport components for frame houses from Chelyabinsk to Ivanovo Oblast using a rented truck.
**Russian Response and Ukraine’s Claim**
Russia has acknowledged losses but insisted that all damaged aircraft will be restored. President Volodymyr Zelensky claimed that roughly half of the targeted aircraft are beyond repair. This operation highlights Ukraine’s growing technical sophistication and deep-strike capability, as praised by NATO Admiral Pierre Vandier.
