**Russia’s Gas Plans in Question**
The Ukrainian government has said it won’t negotiate a new deal for gas transit through its territory. This comes as the agreement with Russian gas giant Gazprom is set to expire at the end of this year.
**Gazprom’s Assumptions**
A person familiar with Gazprom’s plans says they are assuming that no more gas will flow to Europe via Ukraine in 2025. This is according to Reuters, a news agency. The reason for this assumption is not clear.
**Loss of European Clients**
Russia has lost almost all its European clients due to the full-scale invasion and sabotage of pipelines. In 2023, it transported about 15 billion cubic meters of gas through Ukraine, which is only 8% of the peak flows in 2018-2019.
**Russian President’s Statement**
Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that Moscow was ready to continue pumping gas through Ukraine. However, Gazprom’s base-case scenario assumes no transit via Ukraine in 2025.
**Expected Gas Exports**
Russian gas exports to Europe and Türkiye are expected to fall by a fifth next year, excluding ex-Soviet countries. This includes supplies to Türkiye via the TurkStream and Blue Stream pipelines.
