**Head of Anti-Corruption Bureau Defends New Laws Against Criticism**

In a recent statement, Razhden Kuprashvili, the head of Georgia’s Anti-Corruption Bureau, has come out in support of two new laws that have been implemented to increase transparency and accountability. The Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) law and the Grants law have been met with resistance from some quarters, but Kuprashvili is adamant that they are essential tools in the fight against corruption.

**Laws Not Meant to Restrict Organizations**

Kuprashvili firmly believes that the information circulating that these laws restrict the activities of any organization is simply false. On the contrary, he says, the laws aim to establish clear regulations regarding transparency and accountability. He emphasized that the Anti-Corruption Bureau continues to engage with organizations and interested parties to ensure they understand their obligations under the new laws.

**Meetings with 400 NGOs**

In a bid to address any concerns or misunderstandings, Kuprashvili announced that the Anti-Corruption Bureau will be holding meetings with over 400 non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in the coming days. These working sessions will focus on discussing and explaining the monitoring regulations outlined in the law.

**Support for Transparency**

Kuprashvili expressed his support for transparency, stating that only those who do not want to work honestly and transparently would object to these laws. He noted that this is not a democratic or European standard, which are values that Georgia is striving to adopt.
