**Public Defender Asks for Halt on New Laws**
The Public Defender of Georgia has asked the OSCE/ODIHR to write a report about new laws being considered in Parliament. This is because the new laws will change rules about police powers, public gatherings, and what is a crime.
The Public Defender wants the laws to be slowed down until this report is finished. They also want the report’s findings to be taken into account when making decisions about the laws.
These new laws are being considered quickly by Parliament. This means that people may not have had time to fully discuss and agree with them.
**No Halt Yet**
Despite the Public Defender’s request, Parliament is still moving forward with considering these new laws at a fast pace. The Public Defender again asks for the laws to be slowed down until the OSCE/ODIHR report is finished.
The Public Defender also wants all negative effects on human rights to be looked at and fixed if they are found.
