Protesters Block Road Near Georgian Public Broadcaster
Hundred of protesters gathered outside the Georgian Public Broadcaster (GBP) to demand airtime and freedom from the ruling party’s control. They blocked the road near the building, causing a notable police presence.
The protesters want GBP to serve the people and report on their protests. They also honored 16-year-old Ioseb Adeishvili, who died in an accident earlier this month. Many blame the city government for his death.
After holding a moment of silence, the protesters marched toward Rustaveli Avenue. They held banners supporting Mzia Amaghlobeli, a media executive and journalist on hunger strike. The crowd chanted slogans like “No justice, no peace” and “Fear the power of the people.”
The protest was peaceful and ended without incident.
