During previous protests, there were three quite serious incidents where excessive force was clearly used, and such incidents only served the interests of the violent actors, which is why we will do everything to prevent such incidents from happening, stated Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze during a briefing at the Government Administration.
According to the Prime Minister, regarding the use of force, the maximum force necessary to uphold the law will be applied.
“During previous protests, there were three quite serious incidents where excessive force was clearly used. For example, there was Rogava’s case, the case of a young man, Khabeishvili’s case, and also an incident involving a TV Pirveli journalist, which was not related to law enforcement representatives. As far as law enforcement is concerned, there were three cases.
Our goal is to do everything to ensure that not a single such incident occurs. Such incidents play into the hands of violent actors. This was the case in previous instances as well – such incidents only served the interests of the violent actors. Therefore, we will do everything to prevent such incidents. As for the use of force, we will apply the maximum force necessary to uphold the law,” stated the Prime Minister.
