Companies, especially Swiss companies, want to see a predictable environment. They want proof that they will have to operate in a reliable environment, which also means having a solid infrastructure and a judicial system, which is absolutely key, – Vincent Subilia, President of the Swiss Chamber of Commerce, told reporters on the sidelines of the Tbilisi Silk Road Forum.
He said it is important for Georgia to get even closer to Brussels, because the European Union is a very strong market.
“In my experience, the business environment and key conditions are very attractive in Georgia and the fact that the country’s GDP has almost doubled is proof of that. Of course, it is not my prerogative to comment on political issues, but what I can say is that companies, especially Swiss companies, want to see a predictable environment. They want to see proof that they will have to operate in a reliable environment, which also means having a strong infrastructure and a judicial system, which is absolutely key. The fact that you want to align with the EU and strengthen these ties is also key in this regard.
I saw the protest yesterday in front of the parliament building. Ultimately, what I can say is that the EU is a very strong market, so in my opinion Georgia needs to get even closer to Brussels and also Georgia needs to diversify its trade routes and for that you have a very strategic position directly in the heart of the South Caucasus,” said Vincent Subilia.
According to him, Georgia has a very big potential that it can offer to Switzerland, including in terms of connectivity.
“Georgia is a very exciting country that has a significant potential that it can offer, including to Switzerland. Switzerland always creates its prosperity by being open to the world, we have a free trade agreement with Georgia. I am sincerely impressed by the level of infrastructure development and the key role that Georgia plays as a crossroads between Europe and Asia, and when we talk about infrastructure and the airport, I would like to offer you one very clear example, Geneva, where I am from, which is the number one diplomatic capital, is now directly connected to Tbilisi and I am glad that our businessmen can use this opportunity,” said the President of the Swiss Chamber of Commerce.
