**Russia’s Military Threat to Europe on the Rise**
Poland’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk has warned that Russia is likely to be ready for a military confrontation with Europe within the next two years. Speaking after talks with NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander Europe, General Alexus G. Grynkewich, Tusk said that Moscow could reach military readiness as early as 2027.
This warning comes in line with earlier predictions from Ukrainian and Western intelligence agencies. They have been cautioning that Russia’s combat capabilities are being restored at a rapid pace. The Polish prime minister acknowledged the growing threat but urged calm and preparation, saying “there is no reason to scare each other, but we have to be really vigilant and focused.”
**A Threat on Europe’s Doorstep**
Poland, which borders Belarus and Russia’s militarized Kaliningrad exclave, would likely be at the forefront of any conflict between Russia and NATO. The country has been playing a critical role in supporting Ukraine, providing weapons, tanks, and ammunition. Poland is also reinforcing its own defenses, with the National Security Bureau head estimating that the country’s military could hold off an attack for up to two weeks before NATO reinforcements arrive.
**A Broader War on the Horizon?**
Tensions between Russia and NATO have been escalating sharply since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022. European leaders are increasingly warning of the risk of a broader war on the continent. President Volodymyr Zelensky has repeatedly cautioned that unchecked Russian aggression in Ukraine could eventually spill into NATO territory.
In May, Ukrainian foreign intelligence chief Oleh Ivashchenko said that Russia could restore its combat capabilities within two to four years after the end of its war against Ukraine. This prediction aligns with Tusk’s warning and highlights the need for Europe to be prepared for a potential military confrontation with Russia.
