A report by the DeepState on January 28 stated that Russian assaults are declining in intensity across the front lines but remain high. The majority of attacks, around 44%, were concentrated in the Pokrovsk sector, a crucial logistics hub for Ukrainian troops in Donetsk Oblast.
Russian forces have been deploying small groups to encircle Ukrainian troops in the sector, according to Viktor Trehubov, spokesperson for Ukraine’s Khortytsia group of forces. The peak intensity of Russian offensive efforts was recorded in the second half of December, following a surge in attacks that began in late November.
Ukraine’s Armed Forces reported that 840,260 Russian troops have been injured or killed since 2022. These losses are contributing to a demographic timebomb that could see Russia’s population reduced by half by the end of the century, experts said.
In other news, five people, including two children, were injured in Kherson after Russia targeted a minibus with a drone, according to Kherson Oblast Governor Oleksandr Prokudin. The victims have been taken to medical facilities for treatment.
The region of Kherson remains under partial Russian occupation on the left bank of the Dnipro River and is frequently targeted by Russian forces, resulting in civilian casualties. Drone attacks targeting civilians in Kherson have become a regular occurrence, with locals describing it as a “human safari.” The intentional targeting of civilians during wartime constitutes a war crime under international law.
