**Politician Calls Saakashvili Sentence “Unprecedented and Absurd”**
The leader of the United National Movement, Petre Tsiskarishvili, has spoken out against a recent court ruling that sentenced former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili to prison.
Tsiskarishvili believes that the sentence was unfair and politically motivated. He thinks that the current government is afraid of Saakashvili and wants to keep him locked up.
**A Unique Case**
According to Tsiskarishvili, the case against Saakashvili is unlike any other. The regime, led by Bidzina Ivanishvili, is trying to silence him as a major political opponent.
Tsiskarishvili pointed out that it’s unusual for someone to be sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison for crossing the border illegally. He believes that this sentence was made to be harsher than usual, just to keep Saakashvili locked up.
**A Sentence That “Makes No Sense”**
Tsiskarishvili thinks that the court’s decision to add extra time to Saakashvili’s sentence is unfair and unjust. In normal cases, someone caught crossing the border illegally might be held for a short period of time before being deported or released.
Instead, Saakashvili was given a total of 12 years and 6 months in prison, including an additional 8-year sentence for embezzlement.
