Protest Leaders Demand Government’s Resignation

The leader of the “United National Movement,” Petre Tsiskarishvili, says that instead of calling for new elections, protesters should demand the government’s resignation. He made this statement in an interview with Palitra News.

Tsiskarishvili believes that the current government is corrupt and that its leaders must be held accountable. He thinks that a new election commission and security service are needed to ensure fair elections.

The ruling party has threatened to establish a parliamentary investigative commission to examine the “United National Movement.” Tsiskarishvili says that this move would only serve to highlight the opposition’s cause and show who is fighting against the regime.

Tsiskarishvili also talked about the ongoing protests and Mikheil Saakashvili’s stance. He said that Saakashvili believes everything would have been resolved peacefully if he were free.

The “United National Movement” leader emphasized that Saakashvili has a crucial role in breaking Ivanishvili’s power structure. He believes that Saakashvili’s involvement would be invaluable in isolating Ivanishvili and his inner circle.

Tsiskarishvili concluded by saying that the next step should be to dismantle the ruling vertical and isolate Ivanishvili. He emphasized that elections can only be held meaningfully after the government has been replaced.
