**Georgian Dream’s Legitimacy Quest Falls Flat**

The United National Movement’s Secretary General, Petre Tsiskarishvili, has slammed the Georgian government for trying to gain legitimacy through superficial means. In a recent statement, Tsiskarishvili said that Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze’s visit to Italy is just another attempt by the ruling party, Georgian Dream, to appear legitimate in the eyes of Western nations.

Tsiskarishvili pointed out that visiting foreign countries and opening consulates are not enough to earn legitimacy. “If they want legitimacy, they need to share European values,” he emphasized. These values include democracy, fair elections, the rule of law, and human rights protection – principles that Georgian Dream has consistently failed to uphold.

Tsiskarishvili’s comments come as Prime Minister Kobakhidze is currently on a visit to Italy, where he will participate in the official opening ceremony of the Consulate General of Georgia in Milan. While this trip may seem like an important step for Georgia’s international relations, Tsiskarishvili believes it’s just another example of Georgian Dream’s desperation to appear legitimate.

**A Legitimacy Crisis**

According to Tsiskarishvili, Georgian Dream is afraid of losing power and therefore refuses to make the necessary changes and reforms that would genuinely earn them legitimacy. “They will not be able to gain legitimacy simply by traveling and in the way they have chosen,” he said. This statement highlights a deeper issue with the Georgian government – its inability to prioritize genuine progress over superficial appearances.

Tsiskarishvili’s comments have sparked debate about Georgia’s international image and the ruling party’s legitimacy crisis. As the country continues to navigate its relationships with Western nations, it remains to be seen whether Georgian Dream will take Tsiskarishvili’s words to heart or continue down a path of superficial appearances.
