**Activist Nino Datashvili’s Health Under Scrutiny: PHR Pushes Back Against Misinformation**
The Partnership for Human Rights (PHR) has issued a statement in response to the court’s decision to order a psychiatric evaluation of activist Nino Datashvili. The request was made by the Prosecutor’s Office, sparking concerns that the move is part of a targeted campaign against activists.
According to PHR, the 2019 medical document for Nino Datashvili clearly states her diagnosis and severe pain issues. She has been experiencing intervertebral disc injury, radiculopathy, and a disc herniation, which have worsened over recent years. The document also mentions that she has psycho-emotional lability – a symptom that is not a medical diagnosis and has no connection to sanity or mental competence.
**Misinformation Spreads on Imedi TV**
PHR has also addressed the misinformation spread by Imedi TV, which claimed that Nino Datashvili’s medical records refer to psychological instability. However, PHR maintains that there are no such references in her medical documents.
“This situation is part of a deliberate campaign against activists,” said PHR in their statement. “The use of such an extremely unlawful method could be applied to anyone, because emotional lability can occur in any person under certain external conditions.”
**Request for Psychiatric Evaluation Raises Concerns**
PHR’s concerns about the court’s decision are well-founded. The request for a psychiatric evaluation is seen as an attempt to discredit Nino Datashvili and could potentially lead to her being placed in a psychiatric facility.
“This baseless attempt constitutes a form of torture, as per the European Convention on Human Rights,” said PHR. “We call on Imedi TV to refrain from misleading the public.”
**Context: Nino Datashvili’s Detention**
For context, Nino Datashvili was arrested on June 20 in connection with an incident that occurred on June 9. She is charged under Article 353¹ of the Georgian Criminal Code, which refers to assault on a public official during the performance of official duties.
**PHR Publishes Medical Document**
In response to the misinformation and concerns raised by PHR, they have published Nino Datashvili’s medical document with her consent. The document clearly states her diagnosis and severe pain issues, as well as her psycho-emotional lability.
