**Georgian Protesters Demand New Elections and Release of Detainees**
A large group of protesters has gathered outside the Special Investigative Service building in Georgia, calling for new elections to be held in the country. They are also demanding the release of those who were detained during recent rallies.
As I watched the protest unfold, it was clear that the mood among the participants was tense but determined. Chants of “Rise up!” and “Free the prisoners!” echoed through the streets, with many carrying Georgian and EU flags as well as banners calling for the release of detainees from the protests.
A large Georgian flag was also unfurled, symbolizing the protesters’ commitment to their country’s values and sovereignty. The atmosphere was lively, with whistling and shouting breaking out among the crowd. This level of passion is not uncommon in Georgian politics, where emotions often run high.
The protest began at the “Medical University” metro station before marching towards the Special Investigative Service building. At one point, the protesters blocked one side of the road, causing a brief disruption to traffic. As always when large groups gather, police forces were on hand to maintain order. In this case, a cordon of police surrounded the marchers as they approached the Investigative Service building.
The protest is likely to continue for some time yet, with participants showing no signs of backing down from their demands. Whether these calls will be met remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: Georgian politics are never dull!
