**Russian Drone Attack Hits Ukraine’s Kharkiv Region**
On May 30, Russian forces launched a massive drone attack on Ukraine’s northeastern Kharkiv region. The attack injured several people, including two teenagers, according to local officials.
The Ukrainian Air Force reported that Russia launched 90 drones and two ballistic missiles overnight against Ukraine’s Kharkiv, Odesa, and Donetsk regions. The city of Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city, was also targeted in the attack.
**Trolleybus Depot Hit**
A trolleybus depot in Kharkiv came under Russian drone fire, injuring two people and causing significant damage to the facility. Mayor Ihor Terekhov said that eight “shaheds” (a type of drone) were fired at the depot, where trolleybuses were being repaired and maintained.
“This is another attack on our city,” Terekhov said in a statement on Telegram. “The enemy fired 8 ‘shaheds’ at one of the depots where our trolleybuses were being repaired and maintained.”
More than 30 nearby apartment buildings were damaged, and 18 trolleybuses sustained varying degrees of damage.
**Repeated Targets**
Kharkiv has been a repeated target of Russian air attacks. The city is located near Ukraine’s northeastern border, making it a strategic location for both sides in the conflict.
Both Russia and Ukraine deny targeting civilians in the war that started with Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine over three years ago.
**Background**
The ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine has resulted in significant human suffering and economic damage. The international community has condemned Russia’s actions, but a peaceful resolution to the conflict remains elusive.
This attack highlights the continued risks faced by civilians in Ukraine as the conflict drags on. As the world watches, both sides continue to trade accusations of targeting civilians.
