**Russian Attacks on Ukraine Leave Two Dead, Many Injured**
On Wednesday morning, Russian drones and missiles struck various parts of Ukraine, causing significant damage and loss of life. According to officials, at least two people were killed in the attacks.
One of the hardest-hit areas was the northeastern city of Kharkiv, which has been a frequent target of Russian strikes. Regional Governor Oleh Syniehubov reported that at least 17 explosions occurred during a 20-minute drone attack, injuring three people. The same area also saw two fatalities in drone strikes near the town of Kupiansk.
In another part of Ukraine, the southeastern town of Kryvyi Rih was hit by Russian forces deploying missiles and drones. The head of the local military administration, Oleksander Vilkul, said that the attack knocked out power and water supplies, causing an unspecified number of injuries.
**Kyiv Avoids Major Damage**
In contrast to other Ukrainian cities, Kyiv managed to avoid significant damage or casualties from Russian air attacks. Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that air defense units were activated for a time, but there were no reports of harm or destruction.
The recent surge in Russian air attacks on Ukrainian cities has seen record numbers of drones being fired last week. Ukraine’s military has also been attacking Russian targets, often linked to the energy system. Both sides claim not to target civilians in their strikes during the ongoing conflict that Russia launched against Ukraine over three years ago.
**Thousands of Civilians Have Died**
The war between Russia and Ukraine has resulted in a devastating toll on civilians, with thousands killed, mostly Ukrainians. The international community continues to monitor the situation closely as both sides deny targeting civilians in their attacks.
