Police in Novi Sad, Serbia detained five opposition members on Monday.
The detainees include a city councilor from the Party of Freedom and Justice (SSP), a leader of the Movement of Free Citizens, and three other officials from different parties. They were accused of behaving badly during a public gathering outside the City Assembly.
One of the detainees, Predrag Dragojevic, is facing more serious charges for allegedly assaulting a police officer. He is suspected of trying to take a shield from an officer during the protest.
The others are accused of throwing objects at police and causing a disturbance. They will be brought before a judge on Tuesday or Wednesday.
Five police officers were injured during the gathering. The police are also looking for three other people who they believe broke the law during the protest.
