We, representatives of Georgian non-governmental organizations, express our full solidarity with the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Georgia, Mr. Ernst Peter Fischer – the attempt to discredit and personally attack a representative of an important partner country of Georgia, a guest of our homeland, is deeply disturbing, reads a joint statement issued by the non-governmental sector.
According to the third sector, the diplomat has become the target of groundless, aggressive and unworthy attacks from the Georgian Dream due to his principled position.
“At a time when democratic values and Georgia’s European future are under attack, Ambassador Fischer has consistently and courageously defended the principles of freedom, openness, and democracy. The Ambassador’s position is absolutely clear and convincing, reminding both the government and the Georgian public that Georgia’s rightful place is in the family of European countries.
It is precisely because of this principled position that Ambassador Fischer has become the target of unfounded, aggressive, and unworthy attacks from the Georgian Dream. His personal insults and propaganda narratives are not isolated incidents; they are part of a deliberate and systematic campaign of disinformation and hostility directed not only against Germany, but also against other Western partners – including the European Union, the United Kingdom, and the United States – who have stood firmly by Georgia’s side for decades. From humanitarian aid and development assistance to strong diplomatic and political support, Germany and its partners have always been the most consistent and loyal friends of the Georgian people.
The attempt to discredit and personally attack a representative of an important partner country of Georgia, a guest of our homeland, is deeply disturbing. These actions damage Georgia’s international reputation, undermine our strategic interests and, most dangerously, alienate Georgia from those allies who have consistently supported the independence, security and democratic development of our homeland. Instead of strengthening Georgia’s sovereignty, such narratives only weaken our resilience, incite division and serve the interests of those forces who do not want Georgia to succeed on its European path.
The lies about the lack of Western support for Georgia and our citizens have no factual basis. On the contrary, it is Germany, the United Kingdom and other European states that have consistently supported Georgia’s integration into Euro-Atlantic structures and defended our sovereignty in the face of external threats.
We, Georgian NGOs, who are committed to Georgia’s democratic future, express our unequivocal support for Ambassador Fischer and all those representatives of partner countries who, despite hostility and slander, continue to defend the right of Georgians to freedom, democracy and European integration.
The solidarity of our partners towards our homeland deserves recognition, gratitude and respect.
We, Georgian NGOs, stand by Ambassador Fischer. We will continue to expose propaganda and manipulation, and fight for Georgia’s historic choice – our European future. The values of truth, dignity, democracy and freedom will surely prevail in Georgia,” reads the statement.
