 New details have emerged regarding the murder that took place in Zugdidi yesterday. According to available information, the woman accused in the murder case of 42-year-old Natia Afkhazava has inflicted self-harm. She was taken to one of Zugdidi’s clinics accompanied by law enforcement. According to reports, her health condition is satisfactory, and she remains in the clinic.
According to a person close to the deceased, Natia Afkhazava was set to return to Germany in a few days, where she lived with her husband and two minor children. Local sources report that the deceased woman was a relative of the accused’s spouse, and the two women were friends.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs has launched an investigation into the murder under Article 108 of the Criminal Code, which pertains to intentional murder.
“The investigation established that on August 13 of this year, in Zugdidi, the accused, during an argument at her residence, used a cold weapon to inflict multiple wounds on N.M., born in 1983.
As a result of the injuries sustained, N.M. died at the scene.
Law enforcement officers detained the accused, N.Kh., shortly after the incident, on the spot. The police seized the weapon used in the crime—a knife—as material evidence.
The investigation is ongoing under Article 108 of the Criminal Code, which pertains to intentional murder,” the statement reads.
