According to the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia, amendments to the Minister’s order have simplified the pension issuance process. Specifically, pensioners will no longer have their pensions suspended due to minor inaccuracies in identification data.
According to the released information, under the previous practice, if there was any discrepancy between a pensioner’s ID and the database of the Public Service Development Agency, pension payments were suspended until the citizen provided a new document.
“With the amendment, pension suspension will only occur if there is a mismatch in the personal identification number, year, or month of birth. In all other cases, the Social Service Agency will rely on the data from the Public Service Development Agency, and pensioners will receive their entitled pensions without delays or excessive bureaucracy.
As a result of this decision, approximately 1,000 pensioners each month will be able to receive their pensions without additional procedures. They will no longer need to visit the agency’s service center or Liberty Bank to request pension reinstatement,” the statement reads.
