**Norway to Complete F-16 Deliveries to Ukraine by End of 2025**
In a recent interview, Norway’s Defense Minister Tore O. Sandvik revealed that the country plans to complete its deliveries of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine by the end of 2025. This comes as part of Western efforts to strengthen Ukraine’s air defenses against Russian aggression.
**A Key Part of Ukraine’s Air Defenses**
Norway confirmed last year that it would be donating several U.S.-made F-16s to Ukraine, which is a significant addition to the country’s air defense capabilities. While Sandvik didn’t specify how many jets have been delivered so far, citing operational security concerns and ongoing consultations with Ukrainian officials, he did say that the donation of Norwegian F-16s is proceeding according to plan.
**A Boost in Support**
Last year, Norway also provided an additional 1.3 billion kroner (around $120 million) to support the Ukrainian Air Force, aimed at enhancing Ukraine’s ability to defend against Russian missile and drone attacks. This contribution is part of Norway’s efforts to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense, in cooperation with other members of the Air Force Coalition.
**Part of a Broader International Effort**
Norway is part of an international F-16 coalition, alongside 10 other countries, that has been training Ukrainian pilots and coordinating the delivery of Western fighter jets to Ukraine. This coalition has played a crucial role in supporting Ukraine’s air defense capabilities during the ongoing conflict with Russia.
**A Commitment to Supporting Ukraine**
In April, Norway and the U.K. agreed to provide a significant military aid package to Ukraine, including funding for the repair and maintenance of previously supplied vehicles and equipment, as well as financing for radar systems, anti-tank mines, and hundreds of thousands of drones. This commitment reflects Norway’s ongoing support for Ukraine’s defense efforts.
