The street brought the Rose Revolution, twice the Maidan, the street brought the Arab Spring. When you are deprived of a choice, this is not only a solution, but also a necessary path, – the third President of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, writes on the social network.
According to Mikheil Saakashvili, the opposition must find its own way, but this may not happen in two or three days.
“I want to answer that small part of society that thinks that we should participate in the elections, otherwise politics will die.
You can’t participate in something that doesn’t exist. Does that kill politics? Quite the opposite.
I’ll tell you a story. In the early 2000s, the opposition held a conference in Gudauri, and we invited the famous professor from the University of Jerusalem, Shlomo Aviner.
Then Zura Zhvania and Nino Burjanadze were hesitating about the feasibility of street protests, Shlomo interrupted them and said: Why are you afraid of street protests? This is the legitimate and most effective way of politics.
The street brought the Rose Revolution, twice the Maidan, the street brought the Arab Spring. When you are deprived of a choice, this is not only a solution, but also a necessary path.
The Dream was able to register only 20% of the voters in the “elections”, to which was added a small percentage of other participating parties, but 70% must direct their energy to other arenas, through street protests, strikes, national disobedience, and activity on social networks.
We should not act according to the rules of the Russian occupation dictatorial regime, we should not sit down at the table to play with Schuler, we must find our own way. This may not happen in two or three days, but whoever sets out on the right path, success and victory are theirs!”, – writes Mikheil Saakashvili.
