Georgia’s third president, Mikheil Saakashvili, is addressing his supporters, urging them to gather on Rustaveli Avenue on October 4.
As Saakashvili writes on his Facebook page, October 4 is “the last chance to save the country, which we will not have again for a long time, if ever.”
“I would like to address my numerous supporters: friends, there are moments in the history of every country when action is needed there and immediately. The history of our country would have turned out differently if the protesters of April 9 had believed the calls and left the square. On November 23, many advised me not to enter the parliament, but I entered the exact moment when Shevardnadze was going to declare parliament legitimate and I interrupted his speech. Those who call for postponing and prolonging the struggle do not take into account the fact that after October 4, these last free TV channels will also be closed. They are being kept until October 4 for the propaganda of the “elections”. Free universities will be destroyed because they do not fit into the general brainwashing, many more people will be arrested and the rest will be expelled. If all this happens, universal hopelessness will set in and the West will finally give up on us. Therefore, arriving on the 4th is the last chance to save our country, which we will not be given again for a long time, if ever. Therefore, please, come out on the 4th and stand to the end!
