**Georgia Won’t Be Controlled by Brussels**
A French member of the European Parliament, Thierry Mariani, spoke up for Georgia in a speech at the European Parliament. He said that Brussels should not try to control Georgia’s decisions.
Mariani thinks that the European Union is doing too much. “We need mutual respect between nations,” he said. In other words, countries should treat each other as equals.
A report from December 20 said that there was no foreign interference in Georgia’s elections. But the EU is now increasing its involvement in the country. Mariani pointed out that many police officers were hurt during this time, and the EU was a part of the problem.
Mariani wants Georgia to have its own freedom. He said that Georgia wants a Europe that respects its choices.
