**Ukraine’s National Police Conduct Searches at 3 Major Pharmaceutical Plants**

The National Police in Ukraine is conducting searches at three of the country’s largest pharmaceutical plants. This was reported by Ukrainska Pravda on February 28, citing its sources.

According to Ukrainska Pravda, the police searched the offices and production facilities of Arterium Corporation, Farmak Joint Stock Company, and Darnytsia Pharmaceutical Company. The searches were conducted both at the factories and in employees’ homes.

The police investigation is part of a broader effort to combat high prices for medicines in Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that prices in Ukrainian pharmacies are “unacceptably high” and announced a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) dedicated to the availability of medicines.

**Background on Medicine Prices**

In February, the NSDC approved steps to reduce drug prices in Ukraine. The government limited the pharmacy trade margin to no more than 35% for over-the-counter drugs and established a regressive scale for prescription drugs. Suppliers will be able to add no more than 8% to the wholesale price depending on the cost of the drug.

On February 19, the Health Ministry announced that prices for 100 of Ukraine’s most popular medicines would be reduced by 30% starting March 1, 2025.
