Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili met with the U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Alan Purcell, according to information released by the Ministry of Economy.
According to the Ministry, the meeting discussed priority areas of cooperation between Georgia and the United States, with a focus on the importance of bilateral strategic partnership.
“It was noted that the Georgian side is interested in resetting relations with the U.S. and restoring strategic cooperation. The Minister emphasized the significance of President Trump’s peace initiatives, including the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace agreement, which has created new development opportunities in the South Caucasus region. According to her, this achievement is important for maintaining peace and security in the region, which is a priority of the Georgian government’s policy.
During the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of economic cooperation, including bilateral trade, investments, and transportation.
Both sides placed special emphasis on the importance of developing the Middle Corridor. The role of Georgia as a key player in regional transit projects was highlighted, as well as the significance of developing the Middle Corridor as a stable, secure, and efficient transit route connecting Europe and Asia. Attention was also drawn to infrastructure projects that the Georgian government is implementing and planning to enhance the development and competitiveness of the Middle Corridor.
It was also noted that trade turnover between the two countries is growing, reaching USD 1.6 billion in the January-July period of 2025. The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Genadi Arveladze,” the statement reads.
