**New Law to Punish Drug Users**
The Georgian government plans to introduce a new law that will punish people who commit drug crimes. This is according to Mamuka Mdinaradze, the leader of the ruling party.
Under this new law, some people might be forced to get treatment for their addiction. But only in special cases. A judge would decide whether someone needs treatment or not.
Mdinaradze said that if a person is found guilty of a drug crime, the judge can choose to punish them with mandatory treatment along with other punishments. This decision will depend on the individual case and might be based on medical experts’ recommendations.
The new law does not change the rules about marijuana. People can still use it, but selling it will become stricter.
The idea behind this new law is to help people who are addicted to drugs by treating them rather than just punishing them. This approach has been tested in other countries and seems to be effective.
