**Georgian Foreign Minister Outlines Plans for Ministry Reorganization**
In a recent conversation with journalists, Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili emphasized the need for reorganizing the country’s foreign ministry to effectively implement national interests abroad. According to her, the process is not only necessary but also long overdue.
“We don’t need to consult with anyone to know what our country needs and what type of foreign ministry we need,” she stated firmly. “The goal of these changes is to make the Ministry of Foreign Affairs more effective and better represent and defend our national interests abroad in this changing world.”
Botchorishvili highlighted the importance of having an effective apparatus on the ground in Tbilisi and embassies operating in capitals around the world. She also stressed the need for a more efficient use of existing resources and the creation of a system that would allow the younger generation to enter state service in a competitive environment.
**New Ambassador Nominated for United States**
The foreign minister also spoke about the nomination of Tamar Taliashvili for the position of Georgian Ambassador to the United States. Botchorishvili expressed confidence in her abilities, stating that she will be a successful ambassador and make a significant contribution to improving relations between Georgia and the US.
“It is very important when an ambassador represents a country in a specific country,” she noted. “I am sure that she will be a very successful ambassador and will make a significant contribution to the improvement of relations between Georgia and the United States.”
**US Consent Received**
As reported by Botchorishvili, Georgia received consent from the US on June 4, allowing Ambassador Taliashvili to arrive in Washington as soon as possible. The foreign minister described this development as “very important” and expressed joy that the candidate nominated had been acceptable to the American side.
“This is once again a good moment to look at relations between Georgia and the United States with new eyes, from a new page,” she noted.
