**Macron Warns of Prolonged Ukraine War**
French President Emmanuel Macron has said that Russia’s war against Ukraine is far from over. This warning came just as Donald Trump took office again in the US, where he had promised to end the conflict quickly.
**No Quick End to Conflict**
In a speech on New Year’s Eve, Macron said that the war would not end soon. “Let us not delude ourselves,” he said. “This conflict will not end tomorrow or the day after.” He was speaking about the upcoming third anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
**Trump Promised Quick End to War**
Before his return to office, Trump had promised to end the war in 24 hours. Later, he extended this promise to several months. However, Macron emphasized that it would take more than just a quick fix to resolve the conflict.
**Strengthening Ukraine’s Position**
Macron stressed the importance of helping Ukraine become stronger and able to negotiate from a position of power. He also emphasized the need to ensure Ukraine’s security and prevent another war on its territory.
